“Nothing that mattered”

Nothing I’d done up until that day meant anything.

I’d just been doing all the things I wanted to do without ever caring about the consequences.

I didn’t understand that those things would come back to bite me one day.

I thought I was doing something good.

But I wasn’t.

I wasn’t doing anything really, nothing that would benefit anyone other than me.

“Shouldn’t have stopped”

I knew I shouldn’t have stopped but it felt so good.

Not having any responsibilities.

Not having to do anything when I woke up.

I shouldn’t have stopped.

But it felt so good I didn’t want to start again.

“A good story”

A good story has nothing to do with the idea behind it.

It’s all down to the person who’s telling the story.

Give three people a simple idea and they will come up with three different stories.

So it’s not about who has the best idea for a story it’s about who’s the best storyteller.

That’s all that matters.

“The world never changes”

The world had changed and I with it.

I wasn’t the same person who’d set out to explore the furthest corners of the world.

I’m someone else, someone I don’t recognize anymore.

The world changed me and the more I saw the more I knew I had to change.

The more I had to become someone else to survive in it.

I think everyone should go on a journey like the one I have.

Everyone should see the world, experience all of it and then come back home only to realize that you’ve changed.

Because for the most part you will have changed for the better and you will not be able to recognize yourself when you look in the mirror.

The change will be good, trust me I know.

I know that because I’ve changed and at the same time it feels like the world changed.

But the world never really changed, I was the one that changed not the world.

Never the world.

“Something I could do”

I thought there was something I could do.

I thought I could make a difference.

But I couldn’t.

There was nothing I could do.

It had been going on for far too long and nothing could change.

Not anymore.

They had ignored the whole thing for too long and rules had been made.

Rules that could not be broken.

Or changed.

Rules that I would have to abide by once I got there.

So there was nothing I could do.

And I regret going there.

Thinking I could have changed something.

“Nothing I could do”

It was starting to become worse.

Nothing I was doing seemed to work.

I couldn’t explain it.

Nothing was working.

Nothing.

And I’d tried so hard to make it.

I’d spent so many hours trying to build something that I could be proud of.

That my family could be proud of.

And now it wasn’t working.

Nothing was working.

And there was nothing else I could do.

“On his own”

He was in trouble.

And he needed my help.

But I wasn’t going to help him this time.

He’d done it before.

Too many times.

This time I wasn’t going to be there and get him out.

I’d given him enough chances.

Now he was on his own.
