“Her face”

I didn’t remember who I once was or what I used to look like but I will always be able to remember her face.

It’s been burned into my mind and will stay there until the end of my days.

Her face was, and still is, the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

A face I will always remember.

So even know when I can’t remember who I was when I first met her and when I don’t want to look in the mirror because I don’t know the face that will look back at me I can still take solace in the picture of her face.

The picture burned into my mind until the end of my life.

“All his fault”

He knew there was nothing left to do.

Nothing left to say.

She was leaving him and that was final.

It was his fault.

He knew it was.

Deep down.

But he tried to lie to himself.

All the way until she stood in the door and he was forced to accept the reality that it was all his fault.

“Shores of my youth”

It was there, on the shore’s of my youth, I saw her again.

I saw someone I thought I’d lost.

She was still the same.

Or course she was.

I was the one who’d changed.

I was the one who’d left.

I saw in her the same woman I had left behind all those years ago.

She hadn’t changed one bit.

I had.

I had changed for the worse.

“With their help”

He didn’t want me to stay.

But staying was my only option.

I couldn’t see a future without him.

There wasn’t one.

So, I stayed.

Even though he didn’t want me to

I stayed when he told me to leave.

Thinking he would get over it.

Get over whatever he was angry about.

Like he had so many times before.

But he didn’t.

He called the police.

And, with their help, I left him alone.

“Let me in”

If I came over tonight would you let me in?

Would you turn me away?

I wish I knew the answer.

It’s the only answer I want.

Forget about everything else.

Forget about things we’ve said.

There’s only one answer I want.

If I came over tonight would you let me in?

”Such a shame”

He knew something wasn’t right about her.

But he fell for her all the same.

She was, and will always be, the love of his life.

Such a shame she didn’t feel the same about him.
