“Being stupid”

How much could I spend in a year?

That was the question I was asking myself.

I wanted to know how I could have been so stupid.

How I could have spent an entire year just wasting everything I had.

How could I have done it?

I don’t understand how I was thinking?

How did I think it would work itself out in the end?

It won’t.

Nothing ever works itself out I know that and I knew that before so how could I have been so stupid?

Well, now it’s time to start all over again and earn it all back so I can pay what I owe.

“Life on the run”

There were a lot of them standing in my living room and I knew they were there for me.

My time had run out and there was nowhere left for me to run.

They were taking me in.

Finally, after five long years, they’d finally caught me.

And I was glad.

I would no longer be living having to look over my shoulder, thinking that every police car was out for me.

I would serve my time and then I would be a free man.

I saw them standing in my living room, waiting for me and I couldn’t help but smile because I knew my time had come and I wouldn’t have to run anymore.

“I think I’ve made mistakes”

I think I’ve made mistakes in my life but I’m not sure.

People keep telling me I’ve done mistakes and I guess I’ll have to accept that.

I’ll have to believe those who know more than me.

So I’m beginning to think I’ve made mistakes but I’m still not sure because I’ve done what I wanted to do and I haven’t cared about the consequences.

How can that be a mistake?

I don’t know but people keep telling me it is.

I guess I’ll have to listen to them and change.

Just a little bit.

Just enough for them to stop telling me I make mistakes.

“A good life”

I was living a good life and it felt like it was never going to end.

But I was living a dream.

I couldn’t afford the life I was living but I kept going like I could.

And I didn’t care about all the bills that kept piling up on my doorstep.

Most months I didn’t even open them.

I was living the life I’d always dreamt of and I didn’t think it would ever end.

I didn’t think I would ever end up here.

“Without her there”

I didn’t like school but I went because she was there.

It was the only time when would see her and I wanted nothing more than catch a glance of her before the day was done.

Most of the time we even talked and st together during lunch.

She was the only reason I went to school and so when she left there was no reason for me to go there anymore.

And I dropped out.

Because she wasn’t there and I didn’t want to go to a school where she didn’t exist.

“Something that’s broken”

”How can I fix something that is broken?” I asked the old man and he turned to face me and told me something I will never forget.

”You cannot fix something that is broken unless you yourself is whole.”

I will admit I didn’t really understand what he was saying and it took me years before I realized what he meant.

But when I did I knew he’d been right and I had been living a lie for all of my life.
