“Something that’s broken”

”How can I fix something that is broken?” I asked the old man and he turned to face me and told me something I will never forget.

”You cannot fix something that is broken unless you yourself is whole.”

I will admit I didn’t really understand what he was saying and it took me years before I realized what he meant.

But when I did I knew he’d been right and I had been living a lie for all of my life.
