“Showing them wrong”

You cannot do something others have already failed.

That’s what they told me.

But I didn’t listen.

I knew I could do it.

Just because all others before me had failed didn’t mean I would.

I would show them wrong.

I would stand on top of that mountain holding my flag and yelling out to those standing below that I did it.

And that nothing was impossible.

That all it took was enough people to try and someone would eventually make it.

  1. Great story! Growing up in my grandma’s house, the saying was “if someone was already doing it, they don’t need you doing it too.” Yeah, it really was like that. My aunt played piano, so I couldn’t. She swam, so I was a poor swimmer. etc.
