“Growing up”

He was the kind of person I wished I could be.

The kind of person who could do anything he wanted and there was never any repercussions.

None cared what he did because they had come to expect certain things from him.

That was the type of person I wanted to be.

Someone who was carefree.

Free to do whatever he wanted.

I looked up to him.

I still do, in some ways.

But now I’m grown and I can see him for what he really is.

And that’s not a grown man.

Not someone I want to be now that I have a family and a life of my own.
