“The door”

The door hadn’t been opened for a long time.

None knew why.

There was a time when the door always stood open.

And people could pass through it as they pleased.

Into another time and another place.

But that time had come to an end.

The door was closed.

And none knew why.

This day a boy was standing in front of it and he dreamt about the stories his parents used to tell him about the land on the other side.

He wanted to see it.

He wanted to be there.

And just like that, the door opened once more.

Just for him.

  1. “He wanted to see it. / He wanted to be there. / And just like that, the door opened once more. / Just for him.” — I like a magical ending. To me, your poem also represents fearlessly pursuing one’s dreams. The door may be closed now but that doesn’t mean it will remain closed forever. Keep dreaming, keep writing. 🙂
