“Trying to forget”

He didn’t know there was nothing he could do.

Not anymore.

”Let’s go,” he told me.

I didn’t have the heart to tell him it was over.

That there was nothing he could do.

Not anymore.

So I went with him.

”Don’t get your hopes up,” I said but he didn’t listen. He was too caught up in his own mind.

Because in his mind there was still something he could do.

In his mind, she was still there.

Still with him.

So he stayed there.

And blocked out anything that told him that she was gone.
