“Speak up”

I put up with it for so long.

Longer than I thought I would.

Longer than I should have.

”Not again,” I finally gathered the courage to say.

”Not again, I won’t do it. I can’t do it.”

I didn’t think it would work.

I didn’t think they would let me get away with it.

But they did.

I had put up with it for so long that even they were surprised that I hadn’t said anything sooner.

So the lesson I learned was this: Speak up when you’ve had enough. People will keep pushing you around until you do.
