“Helping her”

I was just trying to help her.

But she didn’t want any help.

She didn’t understand she needed any.

There was nothing I could do.

I couldn’t help someone who didn’t want to help herself.

So I left her there.

In need.

Even though she didn’t understand it yet.

And I never looked back.

I didn’t even answer the phone when she called me, crying for help.

She’d had her chance.

And I wasn’t going to offer mine more than once.
