“I never wanted him to make it”

I admit I never prayed for him to make it.

I always hoped he would come up short.

I didn’t want to have him near me.

He shouldn’t have had the chance to get here.

But now he was almost done.

It was looking like he would make it.

I couldn’t let him.

There was no way I would have him standing next to me.

I had to do something.

And I knew just the thing.
