“He demanded perfection”

He demanded perfection from me.

And I could never give that to him.

All my life I thought I was failing.

I thought I wasn’t good enough.

I didn’t understand I was only failing at living up to his expectations.

It didn’t matter if I won.

There was always something wrong.

It didn’t matter if I destroyed the entire playing field.

There was always something I had done wrong.

Always.

So I never thought I was doing well.

I always thought I was never good enough.

All because he demanded perfection.

And I could never give him that.
