I always told them I was going to make it.

That I was going to prove them all wrong.

I always told them that.

Because I knew I was right.

I knew I could do it.

I knew I could make it.

I knew I could prove them all wrong.

And I knew that I would one day get my chance.

This one hits home…this month I sold several short stories (that I would love to shove in my old English teachers’ faces) and earned my PhD after starting school at 30 (I earned my AS to PhD during the past 13 years) and would love to shove that in face of several family members. Great short story!
