“Call me”

Please call me what you get there.

That’s what I should have said.

I should have told her that.

And I would have known that something was wrong.

Instead, I said nothing.

And I didn’t realize that something was wrong until I got a call from the police.

Until they called me to say what had happened to her.

That was the worst call I’ve ever gotten.

A call I want to forget.

A call I can never forget.

I should have told her to call me when she got there.

And I would have known that she never arrived.
