“Someone I looked up to”

I looked up to him.

So when he fell everything came crumbling down.

I had lost the one person I admired.

He was not the person I thought I knew.

He was someone else.

Someone I didn’t know.

Someone I didn’t recognize.

How could he have done what they say he did?

It didn’t fit.

The person I knew.

The person I looked up to wouldn’t do these things.

Couldn’t have.

I took me a long time before I admitted that he might have done it.

A long time when I didn’t want to listen.

I didn’t want to hear how his name was being dragged through the mud.

I didn’t want to hear it.

But finally, I had to admit it.

He wasn’t the person I thought I had known.

He was someone else.

Someone I didn’t know.
