I saw her from across the room and I knew she was the one.
I had to meet her.
I walked across the room to her. She didn’t move. She didn’t look at me.
”Are you here alone?” I asked her.
She seemed startled, not prepared that someone would talk to her.
”Yes,” she said after regaining her composure. ”I’m sorry.”
”For what?” I asked.
She looked at me.
Was I missing something?
”Nothing, that’s usually the reason people talk to me at these places, when I’ve done something wrong.”
”Really? That sounds horrible.”
”It isn’t. You get used to it.”
”A beautiful woman like you shouldn’t have to get used to saying ’I’m sorry’” I said.
I saw her blush and turn her head away.
”Rachel” I heard a voice say and I saw her entire body become rigid.
”What are you doing?” The man asked as he walked up to us.
”Who are you?” I asked.
”That’s none of your business”
I stood there and watched as he grabbed her arm asking her once again what she was doing.
”Nothing,” She said.
”It doesn’t look like nothing. Were you talking to that guy” He looked at me, ”What are you still doing here?” He asked me.
”I’m standing here”
I didn’t want to leave but the guy was adamant so eventually, I left the two of them alone.
I stood at the other end of the room and watched her.
He left her alone so he could dance with a few other women and I saw my chance.
I walked back to her.
”I leaving,” I said, ”will I see you again?”
She looked over my shoulder and saw the man was busy with the other women.
She leaned in close so none else could hear.
”Take me with you”
