I never knew what was going to happen the next day.
And I was okay with that.
I thought that was how life was.
You never knew what was going to happen tomorrow.
You didn’t know if there was going to be food on the table.
Or if your parents would come home.
I thought that was normal.
It wasn’t until I grew up that I realized it was anything but normal.
You shouldn’t have to worry about food.
You shouldn’t have to wonder if your parents would come home at the end of the day.
That’s not normal.
That’s not how you should grow up.
But the was how I grew up.
And that was what I thought was normal.
