“If I could have”

Could I have stopped it?

I don’t know, could I?

I should know, I know I should. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out what I could have done differently.

What I could have done to stop it.

Should I have stopped it?

I don’t know that either.

If I could have stopped it I should have, right?

So why don’t I know if it would have been the right thing? Everyone seems to think it would have been.

If there had been a way for me to stop what was about to happen on that day I would have, would that have been the right thing? To interfere with God’s plan.

I don’t know. But I know that I would have felt better knowing that I did everything in my power to stop it.

So I don’t think I could have stopped it.

Because if I could have, then I would have.
