“I should have listened”

I knew it was bad for me. But I didn’t care.

I was young.

Nothing could hurt me.

Nothing could stop me.

But in the end, it did stop me.

It brought me down on my knees, and there was no way for me to get up.

No doctors could help me.

No medicines.

There was nothing anyone could do.

I had done it to myself, and there was nothing I could blame.

I had been stupid, careless, and know there was nothing which could help me.

I should have listened.

Listened to the warnings.

And maybe I would be in a better place. Maybe I could have survived this.

But I didn’t.

I didn’t listen, and now I was going to pay the price.

As a young man, you don’t think there’s anything which can hurt you.

You’re invincible.

That’s not the case.

Everything catches up to you in the end.

And everything will bring you down.

I should have listened when I was still young.

And maybe I would be alive today.
