They were on the edges of their seats. Everyone in the salon was.
And everyone was watching my work.
Everyone in the massive room with pillars and balcony’s where watching my work.
I remember standing in the shadows, behind everything, by the exit, looking over the salon. Looking out over all the people as they sat there, waiting for what was about to happen next.
And I remember how everyone jumped when it did.
My work was being viewed by hundreds of people, and I was able to stand behind and take it all in, for the first time since all of it had happened I was able to take it all in.
See first hand that people enjoyed it.
That they wanted more.
And for the first time, I knew that I had done the right thing. I knew it was right to stick with it, even when everyone was telling me to give up.
Even when my parents stopped supporting me.
I knew, at that moment, that I had done the right thing.
And I knew it was just the beginning.
