“No way out”

What had he given up to be here?

What had he done?

John didn’t know. He didn’t care what the cost had been.

He was there. He was on top. That was all that mattered.

Two years ago he was broke with nothing left to live for. Now he had the corner office in his own company. In his own building.

He had everything, and nothing was going to bring him back down.

A knock on the door made John jump. It was late. He was sure that everyone else had gone home.

Someone must have come back.

”Come in,” He said and rubbed the sleepiness out of his eyes.

”Hello, John,” A man said as he entered the office.

A dark voice. A familiar voice. A voice John never wanted to hear.

John knew why the man had come. He knew what the man was there to collect.

”Two years ago you made a promise, John.”

”Please” John tried.

”Begging isn’t going to help you.”

”Please, I have a wife now.”

”You made a promise John. Two years, that was the deal.”

”Please…” Tears began falling down John’s cheeks. ”Please”

”Your time’s up” The man put his hands on John’s shoulders. ”It’s time to go.”

”No please” John screamed but it was too late.

The devil had a hold of him, and there was no running away.
