My parents have a house by the lake. Not far from the town where we live, but far enough for us to get away during the summer.
We usually go there for a month every year, whenever my parents manage to get the time off work. Always during the summer.
My father lets my brother, and I walk down to the lake every morning for a swim. I love going, always have. The view from down by the pier is amazing. Most mornings there isn’t much wind, and you can look out across the forest and hills and see the sun rising. It’s light reflecting across the lake.
I love going there. I love the feeling of peace the house gives me. Even though my parents and my brother haven’t been able to come with me these last couple of years, it’s still my favorite place.
It’s a place where I can be alone. It’s a place where I can sit and look across the lake. It’s a place which I love.
