Flash fiction: What has he done? (The bar #14)

”So what do you say” Paul’s words left his mouth before he even sat down next to Andrew by the bar.

”Excuse me?” Andrew didn’t understand what Paul meant at first.

”About my idea?”

”Oh… That” Andrew said ”I don’t know. Why do you want to own this place?”

”Oh come on Andrew. You already live here.”

”But that doesn’t mean I want to own the place.”

”Why not? Think of all the fun it would be.”

Andrew thought about it for a while. It would be fun to own a bar, but then again his life was good as it was.

Or so he told people in the hope that it would one day become true.

Andrew couldn’t say no to his friend, not when he looked like this.

Paul seemed so excited about this.

”I guess we can see if it’s even possible,” He said.

”Yes!” Paul shouted before jumping off the stool he was sitting on and ran over to James to tell him the good news.

James didn’t believe him. Other did any of the other regulars there.

”Why would anyone let you two take over their bar” One of them asked.

”Come on Arthur,” Paul said, ”you know the owner hasn’t set foot in here for the past ten years at least.”

It was true, the man who owned the bar hadn’t been in there since he bought the place.

Andrew looked at Paul and saw his excitement.

There was no way out of this now.

“What had he gotten himself into?” Andrew asked himself.

The bartender walked over to Andrew, poured him another drink and said that this wouldn’t end well.

”I know” Was all Andrew could answer.
